How Chakras and Reiki Work Together

What is Chakra:

The concept of chakras comes from ancient Indian spiritual traditions and is a key aspect of yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation practices. The word “chakra” means “wheel” or “disk” in Sanskrit, symbolizing energy centers in the body that spin like wheels. These chakras are believed to regulate physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The Seven Main Chakras:

  1. Root Chakra (Muladhara)
    • Location: Base of the spine
    • Color: Red

Reiki is Universal Healing Energy

  • Origin: Developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
  • Function: A holistic energy healing practice where the practitioner channels universal life force energy (ki or chi) into the recipient to promote self-healing.
  • Focus: Removing energy blockages, restoring energy flow, and bringing balance to the mind, body, and spirit.
  • Balancing Energy Flow: During a Reiki session, the practitioner intuitively or intentionally focuses on chakras that need attention.
  • Promoting Healing: Reiki energy is said to flow to the areas of the body or chakras that need healing most.

If a chakra is underactive or overactive, Reiki helps restore it to a balanced state.

Reiki practitioners often “sense” or “scan” for blockages in the energy field around the body, corresponding to chakras. Practitioners place their hands near or over chakra points to direct healing energy.

  • Emotional and Spiritual Alignment:

Reiki encourages emotional release, which often corresponds to specific chakra imbalances (e.g., grief from the Heart Chakra, fear from the Root Chakra).

It also promotes spiritual growth by aligning the Crown Chakra

Reiki practitioners use a technique called hands-on-body healing through which a “The Universal Energy” is transferred from the palms of the practitioner to the client in order to emotionally or physically heal.
